Our Dentists

Dr. Austen Kalyn

General Dentist

Dr. Kalyn was born and raised in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, where he graduated from high school. After graduation he began his schooling with the University of Saskatchewan, where he obtained a degree in Physiology and Pharmacology. Dr. Kalyn then went on to Graduate from the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 2022.

Dr. Kalyn includes all aspects of dentistry into his practice. Including fillings, crown and bridge, root canals, removable dentures, invisible braces (clear aligner therapy), and extractions.

When Dr. Kalyn isn’t in the office, he enjoys being out on the water enjoying his boat and golfing in the summer. Snowboarding and playing hockey in the winter.
Dr. Yenuki Rajapaksha

General Dentist

Dr. Yenuki Rajapaksha was raised in Saskatoon and after high school obtained her bachelors degree in Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Saskatchewan with great distinction. She was then accepted into the U of S College of Dentistry, class of 2022. Dr. Rajapaksha enjoys all aspects of dentistry but has special interest in Invisalign, restorative dentistry, paediatrics, root canals and extractions. She is excited to serve the Saskatoon community and is committed to providing patient centred dental care in order to enhance her patients’ oral health.

Outside of dentistry she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, staying physically active, cooking/baking, and travelling.
Dr. Bernie Olson

General Dentist

Dr. Olson has been practicing dentistry at Sutherland Dental Group for over 30 years. In fact, he started the practice while teaching at the College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Olson enjoys providing orthodontic treatment such as Invisalign and traditional braces. His General Dental Practice continues to grow as he especially enjoys treating children and families. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association.

Originally from Weyburn, Dr. Olson is married to Debbie. They have two daughters and a son, all married, and four grandchildren. His hobbies include water skiing, snowboarding and playing hockey.
Dr. Tim Pierce

General Dentist

Dr. Pierce graduated with distinction from the U of S in 1996. At this time he received the Children’s Dentistry Award. Following graduation, he obtained a certificate in general practice residency at the Royal University Hospital, where he gained experience in surgery and in treating medically compromised patients.

Dr. Pierce was born in Langenburg, SK and was raised in Saskatoon. He and his wife Tanya have two daughters. In his spare time, Dr. Pierce enjoys travel and spending time with family and friends. He maintains an active lifestyle and enjoys participating in triathlons, cycling, waterskiing, and playing hockey.
Dr. Divya Balakrishnan

General Dentist

Dr. Balakrishnan (Dr. Bala) grew up in Nipawin, Saskatchewan and moved to Saskatoon after graduating from high school. She enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a degree in Physiology with Great Distinction from the College of Arts and Science in 2009. She was then admitted to the College of Dentistry and convocated in 2013.

Dr. Bala loves practicing a wide scope of dentistry. This includes dental care for children, “white” fillings, root canals and extractions. She also enjoys providing cosmetic dental treatments, which can include veneers, crowns, bridges, and invisible braces with clear aligners.

In December of 2017, Dr. Bala married her husband, Kent. Outside of dentistry, she loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her two cats. In her spare time, she can be found golfing, playing volleyball and practicing yoga/pilates. She is also an avid reader, and still enjoys playing piano after many years of studying and performing music.
Dr. Kelly Huisman

General Dentist

Dr. Huisman was born and raised in Saskatoon. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a dentist. After high school, she completed 3 years toward a physiology and pharmacology degree before being admitted to the College of Dentistry’s class of 2022 at the University of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Huisman enjoys practicing general dentistry with special interest in root canals, extractions, fillings, and invisalign. Her goal is to build a dental practice focused on patient-centred care and patient comfort, while achieving and maintaining oral health for all her patients. She is very proud to practice dentistry with such an amazing team at Sutherland Dental.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Huisman enjoys spending her time with her fiancé Tim, friends and family. She has a passion for cooking, hiking, volleyball and travelling.
